Gail Vaughan made "Forest Friends" from a pattern by Elizabeth Hartman. She substituted 2 blocks (the bunny and the deer) w/ designs by Lorna McMahan of Sew Fresh Quilts. The trees are her own design. She quilted it with leaves and flowers for her niece's new baby boy
Marilyn Himes made and quilted "Bird Walk" from a Block of the Month Kit by Material Girls. She loves these batik fabrics. She found that some of the applique patterns were not the correct size - she was able to enlarge the pieces to the correct size and completed this stunner!
Marilyn Himes made and quilted "Abiding Faith" by Kim Diehl. She loves the finished product but learned that she does not enjoy very small piecing. And she learned that when trying a small-piece kit, she should NOT buy two more kits before finishing the first one!
Margie Braach made and quilted "Polka Dot Garden" from a pattern called "Stitcher's Garden." She had fun learning more about her sewing machine on the project such as its feed and stitches.
Margie Braach made "Tradewinds"with strips cut 7/8" wide to miniature the traditional pattern which used 2 1/2" strips.
Laura Lee made and quilted "Over Down Under" for her niece. She said "this pattern is lots of fun and takes a little planning." Her niece, Sadie, just graduated from Texas Christian Univ. and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marines.
Kathy England took a class in about 2010 on curved piecing using glue technique at Quilt Crossing. She finished the machine piecing quickly but just finished the HAND quilting this year. Expandnext
Emily made her first quilt from Grandma Jill Nelson's stash. Emily selected the fabrics, arranged them, did a little sewing and a lot of pressing.
Jill Nelson will donate her "Star Spangled" Quilt of Valor. She bought the kit in Garden Valley several years ago.
Gerrie Thompson made and quilted Poison Green Baskets from "When the Cold Wind Blows" book. She said she used as many poison green fabrics that she could find. The original pattern had 300 baskets - she reached her limit at 72.
"Lollipop Hill" was made and quilted by Gerrie Thompson from a pattern by Reets Rags to Stitches. Gerrie made it to celebrate the birth of her first Grandson Brody Jon who turns 5 o Sept. 1.
"Shrines" is an original quilt made by Esther Kleinkauf. The 4 batik squares were made in 1993 at the Houston Quilt Show. Since then, she appliqued it twice and part of it was basted 3 times. She is adding more embellishments!
